About the Role
The Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling, staging, and loading of building materials product for customer/contractor deliveries and pick up. This role is responsible for working effectively and efficiently to ensure operational efficiency while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Collect various building materials according to invoices or orders
- Load materials onto delivery trucks and secure them properly
- Organize and stage materials effectively for delivery
- Select materials of appropriate quality and inspect for defects
- Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and notify relevant supervisors of out-of-stock items
- Utilize proper procedures to manage damaged or surplus materials
- Prepare for and unload incoming materials efficiently, reporting any variances
- Follow safety protocols and ensure the safe use of equipment
- Keep the work area neat and clean
- Maintain accurate records of materials received, issued, and in stock
Requirements
- Previous forklift experience
- Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks
- Comfortable operating forklifts and other machinery
- Ability to accurately pick and stage material
- Effectively communicate with team members and supervisors
