About the Role

Curtis Lumber is seeking a Branch Sales Manager to lead a team in developing and implementing organizational strategies, policies, and practices that drive key organizational results. This role involves overseeing, organizing, and coordinating sales strategies and resources to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge, greet, and assist customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide accurate fast in, fast out service for customers.
  • Identify customer needs and provide the appropriate level of assistance.
  • Effectively research and resolve customer complaints and conflicts.
  • Design and drive sales strategies by partnering sales with marketing, purchasing, merchandising, and operations to increase sales and drive profitability.
  • Oversee the branch sales plan to grow commercial sales.
  • Oversee the development and management of key sales positions to ensure expertise in each market.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure sales compensation rates and ranges remain updated.
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure sustained use of effective marketing plans for core product groups to strengthen sales and market growth.
  • Define employee responsibilities, monitor daily activity, and delegate or assign work as appropriate.
  • Prepare and distribute work schedules.
  • Challenge and develop employees’ performance, provide feedback, and hold direct reports accountable for their goals and job responsibilities.
  • Make recommendations for disciplining employees.
  • Ensure timely, accurate review of weekly time record reports and employee expenses for payroll processing.
  • Assist with candidate selection and interview process for new hires; make recommendations to hire.
  • Motivate employees and offer opportunity and reward appropriately.
  • Work with District Manager and/or Branch Manager and HR on potential employee terminations/employee issues; make recommendations to terminate employees.
  • Make recommendations to District Manager and/or Branch Manager regarding efforts to control employee turnover.
  • Prepare and present employees with quality and timely performance evaluations.
  • Oversee all store operations when the District Manager and/or Branch Manager is absent.
  • Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity.
  • Assist with determining staffing needs and requirements.
  • Ensure departments are prepared daily for sales and promotions.
  • Work with District Manager and/or Branch Manager to develop and grow customer base and sales volume.
  • Share expertise with others.
  • Assist the District Manager and/or Branch Manager in ensuring that the store operates at an acceptable yearly net profit and meets sales, gross margin, expense, and asset management goals.
  • View, monitor and interpret financial reports and data to assist in business decisions.
  • Ensure all sales are profitable and result in satisfied customers.
  • Ensure that all reasonable directives from the District Manager and/or Branch Manager are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate regularly with the District Manager and/or Branch Manager regarding inventory levels, employee progress, safety, procedures, and general store efficiency.
  • Act as a coordinator between departments, focus efforts on efficient operations.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures and ensure they are understood and followed by employees.
  • Complete required monthly safety involvement.
  • Use proper PPE when required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Be aware of surroundings at all times.
  • Always work safely.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures and ensure they are understood and followed by employees.
  • Develop new and existing skills through educational programs including, seminars, product knowledge training and clinics.
  • Willing to become a member of a committee/team for current or new programs to ensure their success.
  • Attendance at Company/store meetings is mandatory.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years industry, sales, and management experience.
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with individuals inside and outside of the company.
  • Advanced math skills.
  • Effective independent decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret financial reports and data.
  • Proficient keyboard and computer skills including Microsoft office and other Company and discipline specific software applications.
  • Valid Driver’s license acceptable to Curtis Lumber standards.
