About the Role
The data engineering team is building a hyper-scale data lake to identify bad actors and prevent breaches. The team develops and manages systems for centralizing data from the Falcon platform, enabling internal and external customers to transform and access data for analytics, machine learning, and threat hunting. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of our systems, including foundational processing, data storage, scalable pipelines, and frameworks, tools, and applications for data accessibility.
Responsibilities
- Write highly fault-tolerant Java code within Apache Spark to produce platform products used by customers to query event pipelines/ingestion for insight into active threat trends and related analytics.
- Design, develop, and maintain ultra-high-scale data platforms that process petabytes of data.
- Participate in technical reviews of products and contribute to developing new features and enhancing stability.
- Continuously improve the efficiency and reduce latency of high-performance services.
- Research and implement new methods for internal stakeholders and customers to query data efficiently and extract results in their desired format.
Requirements
- 10+ years of combined experience in backend/cloud development and data platform engineering roles.
- 5+ years of experience building data platform product(s) or features with Apache Spark, Flink, or Iceberg, or comparable tools in GCP.
- 5+ years of programming experience with Java, Scala, or Kotlin.
- Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes.
- Proven experience owning robust feature/product design end-to-end, especially with vaguely defined problem statements or loose specifications.
- Proven expertise with algorithms, distributed systems design, and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience building large-scale data/event pipelines.
- Experience designing solutions with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres/MySQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB.
- Good test-driven development discipline.
- Reasonable proficiency with Linux administration tools.
- Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams.
