About the Role

As the Human Resources Manager- Japan, you will foster a compliant, inclusive, and people-centric environment, working closely with the Jacques Marie Mage Los Angeles headquarters. You will lead core HR functions including employee relations, compliance, payroll and benefits administration, HR operations, and cultural engagement, aligned with business goals and company values. You will report to the Global Director of HR and work on-site in our Tokyo Corporate Office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and process JP employee payroll in coordination with finance to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including open enrollment, plan changes, and addressing employee questions.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, offering guidance and conflict resolution in line with company policy.
  • Interpret and administer HR policies and procedures in compliance with Japanese labor laws and applicable national and local regulations.
  • Manage employee leave of absence cases and time-off requests in accordance with applicable Japanese labor laws and company policies.
  • Support employee development and engagement initiatives in collaboration with leadership.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and documentation in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Contribute to broader HR projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience in a generalist or HR management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Japanese labor laws and HR compliance practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple HR functions independently with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on employee experience and organizational culture.
  • Business Japanese and English fluency required.
