About the Role

This part-time role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys combining operational excellence with continuous improvement, while working closely with HR, Finance, and key stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking for a flexible part-time role where they can make a real impact, ensuring an exceptional payroll service while helping drive continuous improvement across the function.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including salaries, deductions, pensions, benefits, and statutory payments.
  • Manage HMRC submissions, tax codes, National Insurance, pensions, and year-end payroll activities.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and ensure all payroll journals are completed accurately.
  • Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries from colleagues and managers.
  • Work closely with HR and Finance to ensure payroll data is accurate and up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Support payroll audits and ensure GDPR and data security standards are maintained.

Requirements

  • Highly experienced in managing end-to-end UK payroll.
  • Confident in UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Experienced in payroll systems and advanced Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organised, and able to work accurately to payroll deadlines.
  • A strong communicator who can build effective relationships across HR, Finance, and the wider business.
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive payroll information with integrity.
  • Proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and excellent problem-solving skills.
