About the Role
Caseware is seeking a full-time Solution Author to join their Audit Solutions team. This role is ideal for an audit professional looking to leverage their practical auditing experience in a technology-driven environment. The Solution Author will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and maintain audit content and workflows within Caseware's cloud-based audit solutions, translating U.S. auditing standards into practical software solutions. This new role directly influences how auditors perform engagements by creating innovative, standards-compliant solutions that improve audit quality, consistency, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain audit engagement content, methodologies, and workflows within Caseware's Audit portfolio.
- Translate U.S. auditing standards and regulatory requirements into practical software solutions and user experiences.
- Develop and maintain audit programs, risk assessment procedures, internal control documentation, workpapers, and engagement templates.
- Design worksheets, forms, and automated workflows that improve engagement quality and efficiency.
- Create logic-driven content and automation that enhances the user experience while supporting compliance with professional standards.
- Participate in solution design discussions and contribute subject matter expertise throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, validate functionality, and ensure high-quality product delivery.
- Support quality assurance, testing, and user acceptance activities.
- Maintain audit content and methodologies to ensure alignment with evolving professional standards and regulatory guidance.
- Identify opportunities to improve audit workflows through automation, analytics, and emerging technologies.
- Research changes in auditing standards, regulatory developments, and industry trends to support product enhancements.
- Contribute ideas that improve the effectiveness, usability, and value of Caseware's audit solutions.
- Assist in developing best practices and guidance for users of Caseware Audit products.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in external audit within a public accounting firm.
- Strong understanding of audit methodology, risk assessment, internal controls, audit documentation, and engagement execution.
- Hands-on experience applying U.S. accounting and auditing standards.
- Experience performing financial statement audits for private and/or public companies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for professional and technical audiences.
- Passion for technology and improving audit workflows through software solutions.
- Ability to learn new technologies and thrive in a fast-paced product development environment.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Experience developing or maintaining audit methodologies, templates, or professional guidance.
- Experience with audit technology solutions, including Caseware Working Papers, Cloud Audit, or similar platforms.
- Experience with SOX/internal control testing and documentation.
- Experience working with both private-company and public-company audits.
- Previous involvement in training, technical accounting and auditing groups, or methodology teams.
