About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced hands-on Principal Engineer with proven ability in writing elegant and maintainable Python code and experience in the global markets investment banking space. This role involves close collaboration with various technology teams and business partners to build Risk applications for FICC lines of business.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing business requirements and designing solutions within the target architecture.
  • Technically leading more junior developers.
  • Being fully engaged in the development lifecycle, including supporting UAT and regression testing.
  • Developing, testing, and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals.

Requirements

  • Solid years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience in technical design with a good background/track of solutions delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving, design, development, and debugging skills.
  • Enjoyment in solving complex technical problems.
  • Good understanding of programming paradigms such as distributed architectures and working with large data sets.
  • Solid knowledge of contemporary development processes, build environments, and testing tools.
  • Ideally, solid experience in the Financial Services industry.
  • Good working knowledge of front office risk in any business within Global Markets.
  • Knowledge or experience of agile development (e.g., XP, SCRUM, Kanban) and continuous integration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work closely with other technology teams and business groups including trading, finance, technology, and middle office.
  • Team player, self-motivated, and proactive.

  • The Horizontal Risk team supports the Global Markets business globally, working on initiative projects, business and market-driven changes, and day-to-day system support.
  • The London team currently consists of 7 people and collaborates closely with teams in Dublin and Mumbai, as well as other Front Office Risk teams within Global Markets technology.
