About the Role
The General Manager will facilitate and control the standards of all support services supplied by ABM, developing an effective team that consistently meets or exceeds client service needs through competent leadership and management.
Responsibilities
- Perform specific investigations as requested by senior management.
- Implement and maintain quality management systems.
- Conduct monthly quality assurance checks.
- Meet budgetary targets.
- Monitor financial plans with profit and loss information.
- Engage in strategic planning and set key objectives.
- Monitor expenditure and income against plan.
- Manage credit control.
- Control direct costs through efficient operations.
- Ensure forecasts are achieved.
- Secure and implement price adjustments when necessary.
- Review cost-efficient operating methods.
- Manage margin improvements through productivity.
- Authorize wage sheets, ensuring correct staff payment and adherence to budgets.
- Authorize material requisitions, ensuring they are within budget and on the approved list.
- Respond to customer queries orally and in writing.
- Set work targets for lower management.
- Attend internal and customer meetings monthly.
- Recruit Regional Managers, Branch Managers, Contract Managers, Site Managers, and Site Supervisors.
- Ensure employment records are current.
- Conduct staff appraisals.
- Recommend candidates for future development.
- Ensure staff are employed according to company procedures.
- Ensure staff are trained in their duties.
- Ensure staff are aware of and adhere to Disciplinary and Grievance procedures.
- Ensure Health and Safety procedures are practiced by all employees.
- Expand the revenue base.
- Retain existing profitable trade.
- Seek growth opportunities.
- Successfully convert competitive estimates.
- Assist with sales, prospecting, surveying, estimating, and securing new trade.
- Follow Group and company policies and procedures.
- Report deficiencies in systems or equipment that may impact service delivery or pose health and safety risks.
- Use work equipment and PPE properly.
- Report issues or training needs to the line manager or via the divisional incident reporting system.
