About the Role
The Property Accountant will be responsible for full cycle accounting and reporting for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role supports property managers and owners in making informed decisions to maximize property value and performance. The property accounting team delivers accurate and timely financial insights and reporting, contributing to strong client relationships, informed leadership decision-making, and operational excellence, all in support of Blackwood Property Management's strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Perform full cycle accounting, including preparing journal entries, income statements, balance sheets, bank reconciliations, recovery true-ups, variance analysis, GST returns, cash flow forecasts, and other financial reporting analysis on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for clients.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of year-end audit package requirements.
- Assist in preparing year-end tenant operating and tax reconciliations.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process for each property under management.
- Provide accurate and timely accounting information to Property Management and other departments as requested.
- Perform other relevant and related responsibilities as assigned and as organizational needs change.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of work experience in commercial property accounting.
- Property management accounting experience is required.
- Post-secondary accounting degree or CPA qualification.
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting software packages.
- YARDI experience is an asset.
- A cover letter and resume are required for application.
