About the Role

We are seeking an outgoing, commercially aware Audience Development Executive to join our UK audience and events team, focusing on Computing events. This role involves identifying, recruiting, qualifying, and nurturing senior IT decision-makers from end-user organizations. It's ideal for individuals who enjoy connecting with people, building rapport, and becoming a trusted contact, with a background in sales, customer service, recruitment, events, marketing, hospitality, or other people-facing roles being beneficial. Confidence, curiosity, and proactivity are key.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, recruit, and qualify senior IT decision-makers for Computing events through research, sourcing, phone outreach, email, and LinkedIn engagement.
  • Attend relevant industry events and networking opportunities to build the Computing audience network.
  • Confidently discuss event themes, topics, speakers, and value propositions with prospective delegates.
  • Assess delegate applications against event criteria to ensure audience relevance and seniority.
  • Build and maintain relationships with IT leaders and technology contacts, representing the Computing brand.
  • Share audience feedback with internal stakeholders regarding IT decision-maker interests and challenges.
  • Utilize phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and research to expand the Computing audience network.
  • Liaise with confirmed delegates to encourage attendance through calendar invites, emails, and reminder calls.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach, responses, registrations, and cancellations in event trackers and internal systems.
  • Track audience development activity and delegate status, providing regular updates to the team.
  • Attend UK events as required to welcome delegates, support registration, and network.
  • Collaborate with marketing, editorial, sales, customer success, and operations teams to support event delivery and improve audience quality.

Requirements

  • Some experience in audience development, delegate acquisition, sales, recruitment, customer service, events, marketing, hospitality, or another people-focused role is helpful.
  • Open to earlier-career candidates with the right attitude, communication skills, and willingness to learn.
  • Confident communicator comfortable with phone, email, LinkedIn, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Natural relationship-builder capable of developing trust with senior IT professionals.
  • Commercially aware, curious, and adept at researching companies, job titles, technology themes, and market trends.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and resilient with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working towards targets, tracking progress, and taking ownership of results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CRM systems, or event platforms is useful but not essential.
