About the Role
Multiverse is seeking a leader to manage the Diagnose & Prescribe (D&P) service estate, focusing on the adoption layer of AI and tech. This role involves leading a team to build products that assess skill gaps, determine funding, and guide learners to appropriate apprenticeship paths. The position requires a hands-on leader who can stay close to the technical work, foster a high-trust team, and drive product development in an AI-native environment.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery, technical direction, and team health in the D&P service estate, covering the learner and customer journey from diagnosis to onboarding and growth tracking.
- Lead teams across surfaces including diagnosis & needs assessment (RAG, LLM-scored assessment), prescription & eligibility (leveraging levy funds, load-bearing logic), and recommendation & onboarding.
- Continue carving D&P logic out of the legacy monolith into dedicated services and support the AI-native product from beta to scale.
- Coach and build the team, ensuring high performance and AI-native operating rhythm.
- Stay hands-on by whiteboarding designs, reviewing schemas and contracts, and writing production code.
- Deliver predictably by balancing shipping speed, debt, and change-safety using key metrics.
- Raise the AI-native bar by proving better discovery-to-build-to-review loops and sharing best practices.
- Partner with Product, Design, and go-to-market teams on strategy and technical direction.
Requirements
- Engineering management of full-stack teams shipping production software with real technical depth.
- Experience leading a team that has shipped and operated AI features to real users.
- Strong Python/TypeScript skills.
- Experience with React/Next.js (App Router, RSC, server actions).
- Experience with tRPC/GraphQL.
- Experience with Node/Express.
- Experience with PostgreSQL at scale via an ORM, with migration discipline.
- Experience with event-driven systems on a message bus (e.g., RabbitMQ), including versioned events, idempotency, and backward-compatible migration.
- High engineering maturity including typing, testing, feature flags, ADRs, CI/CD, and observability.
- Practical experience with AI-native delivery, including context management, model selection, tool design, and token economics.
- Experience with GTM/acquisition-funnel, particularly onboarding and eligibility surfaces.
- Experience with the Strangler pattern for managing legacy monoliths and greenfield products simultaneously.
- Commitment to accessibility and UX on learner-facing surfaces.
