About the Role
Trainline is seeking a Global Social Media Lead for a 3-month fixed-term contract to redefine the company's social media strategy. This role involves building a bold, scalable approach for the next 12-24 months, focusing on content creation, operational efficiency, and leveraging AI to drive brand growth across Europe.
Responsibilities
- Build a bold, actionable global social strategy for FY28, setting out where Trainline should play, how we should show up and what success looks like across markets.
- Review Trainline’s existing social media strategy, channel approach and content performance to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness, efficiency and audience engagement.
- Develop clear recommendations for evolving our social strategy over the next 12 to 24 months, positioning social as a strategic growth channel across Europe.
- Redesign how we plan, create and distribute social-first content, recommending ways of working that enable faster, more agile and culturally relevant output.
- Create a scalable content operating model that helps teams increase impact without increasing complexity.
- Identify where AI can transform ideation, production, localisation and reporting, turning those opportunities into practical workflows that improve quality, speed and efficiency.
- Define how Trainline can become more relevant with younger audiences by identifying platform behaviours, creator opportunities and emerging trends that should shape our future approach.
- Provide guidance to the Social Media Executive, influence senior stakeholders across Brand, Creative and Marketing, and bring fresh external perspective that challenges existing thinking.
Requirements
- Proven experience building social strategies for ambitious consumer brands, with a strong understanding of how social can drive brand growth and cultural relevance.
- Deep expertise in social-first content, creators, cultural marketing and platform behaviour, with a clear view of where social is heading next.
- Experience reviewing channel performance and turning insight into bold, practical recommendations that teams can act on.
- Strong understanding of how AI is changing creative production, content operations, localisation and reporting, with ideas for how it can be applied responsibly and effectively.
- Experience transforming content teams, improving workflows and introducing new ways of working that increase pace, creativity and impact.
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders, driving change at pace and making clear recommendations that leave a lasting impact.
- A thoughtful leadership style, with the ability to coach others, bring teams with you and create clarity in fast-moving environments.
