About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Manager for maternity cover for 12 months. You will take ownership of end-to-end accounting processes, statutory and management reporting, and play an active role in driving process improvement and supporting the wider team. This is a high-impact position offering excellent exposure across a global, fast-paced technology business.
Responsibilities
- Managing month end, quarter end and year end accounting close processes, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, reporting requirements, government regulations and legislation
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly US GAAP management accounts including meaningful variance analysis
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Supervision and review of prepayments and accruals processes
- Intercompany entries and reconciliations
- Review of complex calculations and items requiring judgement when prepared by more junior team members
- Calculation and management of payroll-related accruals
- Preparation of commission balances for accruals and processing through payroll
- Management of the preparation and audit of local statutory accounts for EMEA regions
- Collation of audit files and liaison with auditors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Local indirect tax compliance and filings
- Liaising closely with the internal tax team
- Supporting the risk management process through compliance with the company's controls, including documentation and testing of controls and maintenance of a strong internal control environment
- Implementation of best practices within the department
- Developing and applying knowledge of Mimecast's business to provide value-added analysis and support to other areas of the business
- Providing guidance and mentoring to more junior members of the team
- Other duties as requested by the Financial Controller, including cover during periods of high workloads and absences
Requirements
- Professional accounting qualification — ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- 3–5 years' post-qualified experience within industry
- Proven Finance Manager experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
- Experience with multi-currency reporting
- Credibility and confidence to liaise effectively with senior management
- Methodical, diligent, accurate and accountable approach to work
- Ability to challenge the status quo and drive improvement through change
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and deliver high-quality work to deadlines
- Team player with a positive, collaborative attitude
