About the Role

The Platform Collective builds and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and processes that enable Monzo's technology teams to succeed. The Infrastructure Platform team is responsible for running Kubernetes clusters, service mesh, and networking for all of Monzo's microservices. This role is crucial for supporting Monzo's growth ambitions, expanding product offerings, and scaling globally.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain foundational tools and systems.
• Work hands-on with Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, and configuration management using Terraform.
• Integrate and manage open-source components to provide scalable primitives for engineering teams.
• Design and implement backend services (APIs, controllers, etc.) for a simplified, self-service experience for engineers.
• Develop software for complex projects like infrastructure migrations, high-scale traffic management, or security tooling.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience in software engineering, demonstrated by writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services using strongly typed languages.
• Hands-on experience working with AWS and/or GCP.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes.
• Inclination to solve problems through automation.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Deep curiosity about systems and ability to investigate complex issues.
• Excitement to build a platform focusing on reliability, performance, and developer experience.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced team with ambiguity and evolving requirements.
