About the Role
Simmons Adaptive is seeking competition lawyers to support a client within the financial services sector. This 12-month role covers a maternity leave, involving close collaboration with the Competition Team on legal, compliance, and competition-policy matters.
Responsibilities
- Providing ongoing legal and strategic competition law advice on commercial and industry projects, antitrust issues, and contracts.
- Handling CMA, FCA, and EC market studies and investigations, employing competition law proactively and supporting interventions as a third party.
- Managing transactional corporate projects (M&A or joint ventures).
- Conducting CMA, FCA, or internal competition law investigations.
- Engaging in competition litigation.
- Liaising with the CMA on alleged breaches of Market Investigations Orders.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with proven experience in competition law gained within a leading private practice or an in-house legal team.
- Technical excellence in all areas of EU and UK competition law identification and advice.
- Sound understanding of processes and procedures of UK and EU competition authorities and financial regulators, their jurisdictions and authority.
- Experience of direct dealings with UK and EU competition authorities and financial regulators.
- Problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work quickly and effectively to tight deadlines.
- Excellent organization skills with the ability to effectively prioritize workloads.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
- Must hold the relevant right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available).
