About the Role
Join our Complex Care team in Lewisham as a care professional supporting a delightful child to reach their full potential. You will monitor tracheostomy care, provide supervision during school hours, assist with feeding, and support communication using Makaton and visual cues. This role is crucial in maintaining a calm, structured environment for the child's ASD needs and ensuring their safety and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Monitor tracheostomy and perform suctioning as needed.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and checked.
- Provide full supervision due to high activity levels and falls risk.
- Support communication using Makaton and visual cues.
- Assist with feeding parent-prepared pureed meals and monitor for choking or aspiration.
- Provide personal care.
- Oversee bowel movement monitoring.
- Maintain a calm, structured environment to support ASD needs.
- Ensure equipment like the blue box and suction machine are ready.
- Provide stimulating activities.
- Monitor skin integrity.
- Liaise with school staff to maintain consistency and safety.
Requirements
- Experience in a complex care setting.
- Experience with tracheostomy and gastrostomy care.
- Experience administering medication.
- Experience using suction machines.
- Experience with challenging behavior in pediatrics.
