About the Role
The Policy Scholar will focus on strengthening Texas’s Election Code, rules, and processes to improve the accuracy and reliability of free and fair elections. This position will conduct in-depth research supporting legislative priorities, develop policy recommendations, and advocate for reforms.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original research and quantitative/qualitative analysis of election administration and law
- Produce high-quality scholarship with the aim of academic publication
- Educate lawmakers and the public on complex issues impacting Texas's ability to consistently oversee free and fair elections
- Assist the Election Integrity campaign with the development of policy recommendations
- Provide formal testimony in legislative hearings and other public forums
- Take advantage of ongoing internal and external development opportunities
- Represent the Foundation in media as required
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience in election administration or law
- Demonstrable ability to produce top-tier academic research
- Strong research and writing abilities
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skillset, including experience with Microsoft Excel and statistical software packages like SPSS, Stata, R, and the like
