About the Role
Mollie Stone’s Markets is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager for its Grand Central location. The ideal candidate will be customer service-focused and adaptable to daily task variations.
Responsibilities
- Assist and support the Produce Manager with all departmental functions.
- Assist in interviewing, training, and developing Produce department staff.
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment.
- Follow department procedures to maintain supplies.
- Manage inventory and pricing, including signage, to achieve required margin and labor targets.
- Oversee sampling of department products to customers.
- Ensure freshness and quality of product upon delivery and restocking.
- Monitor and maintain proper rotation of all fresh product.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a produce department.
- Previous customer service experience in a retail/grocery setting.
- Ability to provide excellent and consistent customer service.
- A passion for unique, fresh food and a team-centered attitude.
- Ability to identify quality or freshness of produce by sight or smell.
- Good communicator and motivator; able to work well with others and convey enthusiasm.
- Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented.
- Can train and inspire a diverse group of Team Members to excellence in all aspects of the department.
- Knowledge of and appreciation for natural foods.
- Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Local candidates only.
- Must be able to regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
- Standing: Up to 8 hours per day.
- Walking: Up to 8 hours per day.
- Reaching: Up to 4 hours per day.
