About the Role
Mollie Stone’s Markets is seeking an Assistant Produce Manager for one of its Peninsula locations. The ideal candidate will be driven by customer service and possess the flexibility to handle various daily tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist and support the Produce Manager with all departmental functions.
- Assist in interviewing, training, and developing Produce department staff.
- Establish and maintain a positive work environment.
- Follow department procedures to maintain supplies.
- Manage inventory and pricing, including signage, to achieve required margin and labor targets.
- Oversee sampling of department products to customers.
- Ensure product freshness and quality upon delivery and restocking.
- Monitor and maintain proper rotation of all fresh product.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a produce department.
- Previous customer service experience in a retail/grocery setting.
- Ability to provide excellent and consistent customer service.
- A passion for unique, fresh food and a team-centered attitude.
- Ability to identify produce quality or freshness by sight or smell.
- Good communicator and motivator; able to work well with others and convey enthusiasm.
- Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented.
- Can train and inspire a diverse group of Team Members to excellence in all aspects of the department.
- Knowledge of and appreciation for natural foods.
- Available for flexible scheduling, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Local candidates only.
- Must be able to regularly lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to reach for up to 4 hours per day.
