About the Role
The Catering Assistant will support the Catering Department in preparing, producing, and serving meals for patients, caregivers, and visitors. This role also involves assisting with cleaning, general kitchen duties, and stock movement, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation in food service areas.
Responsibilities
- Help prepare food and serve meals for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Maintain work practices according to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- Participate in Departmental Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement projects.
- Demonstrate safe food practices as per HACCP guidelines.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize situations as they occur in the course of the shift.
- Manage own workload and complete agreed upon duty statement for that area/section by the completion of each shift.
Requirements
- Understanding of NSW Health & Food Safety requirements.
- Experience in food preparation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Preferably have experience working in a café environment, including cold larder preparation, salad preparation, and sandwich making.
- Must be well-presented.
- Must maintain high standards of personal hygiene.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant hygiene requirements.
- All caregivers are required to be vaccinated from Influenza.

Salary/Compensations
- $53,483 per annum (pro rata for part time)
- plus 12% superannuation
