About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist on the Games DSE team at Netflix, you will lead experimentation, modeling, and advanced data science initiatives. You will partner with product and cloud gaming stakeholders to drive data-informed decisions by building ML models, conducting statistical analysis, and deriving business insights. This role is critical in shaping decision-making through the presentation of insights.
Responsibilities
- Partner with games product and cloud gaming stakeholders on data science and ML initiatives, including ML modeling, causal inference, and experimentation.
- Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of experiments impacting Social, Controller, and Cloud Gaming at Netflix.
- Develop ML models to enhance player experience and core technology capabilities for new Controller, Cloud Gaming, and Social experiences.
- Proactively explore data to identify opportunities for business impact and innovation.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to product managers and engineers, influencing product direction and improving user experience.
- Effectively communicate research and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive business impact.
- Balance ad hoc requests with the progression of strategic projects.
- Mentor junior data scientists to accelerate team growth.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a relevant quantitative field with at least 5 years of experience, OR a Master degree in those fields with at least 8 years of experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working with engineering teams as a Data Scientist.
- Proficiency in statistical skills for A/B testing, analyzing observational data, and statistical modeling.
- Solid skills in applied ML modeling (e.g., deep neural networks) and assessment.
- Experience working with large datasets and analyzing complex data using SQL and tools like Python or R.
- Good business acumen in product innovations and excellent problem-solving skills to translate business requirements into data science problems.
- Strong bias to action, delivering results quickly through iteration.
- Ability to learn quickly and work with ambiguous requests.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to manage stakeholder priorities directly.
