About the Role

As a DevOps Robotics Engineer, you will architect and implement the infrastructure to support hundreds of robots on construction sites throughout the US. You will create a monitoring and data collection system, as well as a way to safely perform OTA software and firmware updates. You will also work with the software team to support CI/CD pipelines, machine vision training pipelines, and testing, playing a key role in deploying the first large fleet of autonomous systems to construction sites.

Responsibilities

Build out the fleet management system, architecting and implementing how the robot fleet will be managed, looking for processes that scale across hundreds of robots.
Automate machine bring-up through scripts, involving component configuration and testing inputs/outputs.
Architect and implement Over-the-Air (OTA) updates for both software and firmware, designing a system for automatic recovery in case of failed updates and ensuring security and encryption.
Create a logging and ticket tracking system for fleet support to provide necessary information for support teams to restore systems and proactively flag issues.
Establish a RobotVPN for addressing in-field issues and teleoperation.
Create a data management architecture for hardware systems in limited network environments, defining data saving, prioritization, and caching strategies.
Build a CI/CD pipeline to validate and generate release software for robot testing, including lifecycle testing and hardening.
Design test cases and conduct testing of the robotic system, including hardware performance and reliability tests, and testing for regressions between software and firmware releases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.
Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations for Hardware/Physical systems.
Proficient in C++ and Python.
Familiarity with C#.
Experience with Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, Agile workflow methodologies.
Experience with Google Cloud Build and/or AWS for CI/CD.
Experience with Linux infrastructures.
Experience with database SQL.
Experience with CI/CD tools.
Experience with systemd.
Experience with scripting such as JavaScript.
C++ infrastructure experience: Understanding the challenges of deploying a fleet at scale and designing software to support these challenges.
C++ infrastructure experience: Understanding robot behavior and supporting diagnosis of issues and reporting to responsible developers.
