About the Role

Join eBay's Offers team as a Software Engineer to revolutionize our Offer/BIN systems by modernizing the backend platform and driving an Oracle migration.

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and evolve backend services that support Offer/BIN experiences.
  • Drive CATY migration work across service and dependency boundaries.
  • Partner with adjacent teams on API evolution, integration changes, and rollout planning.
  • Improve service reliability, observability, and operational readiness during migration.
  • Identify and reduce technical debt that slows Offer modernization delivery.
  • Support safe launches through testing, monitoring, and phased rollout practices.

Requirements

  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals.
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
  • Experience building and operating production services in Java or similar backend stacks.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, and service-to-service integration.
  • Experience debugging production issues using logs, metrics, and traces.
  • Ability to work across teams to drive delivery on multi-system efforts.
  • Strong ownership, execution, and communication skills.
  • Experience with platform or service migrations.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems without breaking downstream consumers.
  • Familiarity with performance, reliability, and scalability concerns in high-traffic systems.
  • Experience with rollout planning, backward compatibility, and risk mitigation.
  • Exposure to ecommerce or transactional systems.

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering

Salary/Compensations

  • C$118,000 - C$157,500
