About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to provide technology solutions and integration services in Payments & Money movement and information reporting. This role involves providing technical guidance, estimating efforts, selecting optimal technology solutions, offering day-to-day application support, and navigating unknowns. The ideal candidate will possess both short- and long-term strategic vision, the ability to code, and experience overseeing distributed development teams. This position is responsible for leading all software aspects within the team, including research, design, technology insertion, development, testing, and support.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop technical solutions that meet user needs for functionality, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Provide development leadership (Architecture, Strategy, Design, Development) on client-facing Payments platforms.
  • Drive department best practices, guidelines implementation, and adherence to standards.
  • Create a superlative developer experience.
  • Build elegant, maintainable, well-documented, secure code.
  • Abstract and refactor code.
  • Learn new things and go above and beyond the call of duty.
  • Improve yourself and constructively support the team.
  • Drive technical designs to consensus and approval by the Architecture Review Team.
  • Design and develop enterprise solutions that provide reusable frameworks, interfaces, and services.
  • Perform impact analysis of proposed changes on existing architecture, capabilities, system priorities, and technology solutions.
  • Identify cost/benefit implications of proposed solutions.
  • Create and maintain application architecture and related assets.
  • Act as the go-to person for development team on architecture discussions.
  • Supervise release processes, which may include after-hours/weekend work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in Application software programming OR High School Diploma or GED and 6 years of experience in Application software programming.
  • Expert in Lambda & ECS (serverless + containers).
  • Strong in Step Functions, SQS, SNS (event-driven systems).
  • Experience with S3, DynamoDB & RDS (storage + databases).
  • Proficient in KMS & IAM (security & access).
  • Hands-on with AWS Transfer Family (SFTP).
  • Skilled in Terraform (IaC).
  • Experience with CloudWatch/X-Ray (monitoring).
  • Experience with Docker & OpenShift (containers & orchestration).
  • Strong in Java, Spring Boot & Node.js (backend development).
  • Ability to build scalable, fault-tolerant architectures.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Developer required.
