About the Role

As a demographic data scientist on the human factors design team, you will use statistics, computer programming, and machine learning to contribute to the development and improvement of Apple hardware products. You will distill data into actionable and intuitive visualizations from a human interaction perspective, collaborating closely with both Austin-based and Cupertino-based cross-functional team members.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and continuing improvement of Apple hardware products.
  • Distill data into actionable and intuitive visualizations from a human interaction perspective.
  • Collaborate closely with Cupertino-based cross-functional team members.
  • Work on the latest, most innovative Apple products with many cross-functional teams.
  • Apply different methods to ambiguous problems.
  • Use statistics and visualization tools to answer specific questions about datasets.
  • Communicate solutions to dynamic problems through presentations.

Requirements

  • MS +3 years of experience or PhD in an analytical field such as Quantitative Social Sciences (Sociology, Education, Economics, Political Science), Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Geographic Information Systems, Applied Math, Physics, Biological Sciences, Climate or Environmental Science.
  • Deep knowledge of statistical analysis and modeling tools.
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, geometry, optimization, or inference techniques.
  • Strong programming skills in a scripting language (Python, R, Matlab, etc).
  • Use scripting tools to model and visualize data to enable data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail, patience, and aesthetic sensibility.
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and collaborating with peers.
  • Willingness to solicit input and accept feedback.
