About the Role
East Side House (ESH) is seeking creative professionals with experience working with youth in areas such as music, visual arts, media technology, dance, sports and recreation, health awareness, and community leadership for their Youth After-School Academy. This program offers students additional learning time in a fun, engaging, and safe environment, focusing on literacy and reinforcing skills needed to reach New York State standards.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and document successful educational, recreation, youth leadership, community service, and arts activities with school-aged children.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and care of children.
- Build positive relationships with each after-school participant and foster positive connections between participants.
- Actively engage with children to foster their positive development.
- Conduct yourself professionally as an agency representative with school staff, parents, children, and others.
- Effectively manage assigned group and enforce progressive discipline policy.
- Assist in enrollment, recording, and submitting daily attendance records and other required documents.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies, ensuring accountability and proper storage.
- Collaborate with specialists implementing activities.
- Participate in staff development, including supervision, team meetings, pre-service training, and at least 15 hours of additional training during the school year.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Department of Health Fingerprint Clearance
- Department of Education Fingerprint Clearance
- State Central Registry (SCR) Clearance ($25.00 Fee)
- Staff Exclusion List (SEL) Clearance
- Physical examination and TB test
- Mandated Reporter Training (2 hours)
- Foundations of Health and Safety Training (5 hours)
- Clearance to work at ESH, contingent upon successful completion of background checks and/or screenings.
