About the Role
The Business Development (BD) Manager supports King & Spalding's Corporate Practice group, working closely with BD peers and Marketing Department colleagues to support pitches, proposals, directory and award submissions, events, and other strategic initiatives. The role reports to the Senior Manager of Business Development for the firm's Corporate practice.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to facilitate cross-selling opportunities, crafting and executing go-to-market strategies in coordination with BD colleagues.
- Lead and draft content for RFPs, pitches, proposals, and new business opportunities, including collaboration meetings, research, and coordination with BD colleagues.
- Develop and oversee the firm’s experience and credentials strategy, streamlining responses by mapping and leveraging experience within the Foundation database.
- Support client targeting program, prompting and monitoring pursuit activities, and tracking/reporting on results.
- Conduct strategic research on potential clients, competitors, and practice developments to identify business trends and opportunities.
- Build effective agendas for team meetings, facilitating internal communications, preparing materials, knowledge sharing, and project management.
- Create and update materials to support pitches, proposals, and awards, including experience management.
- Manage legal directory and league ranking submissions and assist the Public Relations team with award submissions.
- Coordinate firm-hosted business development events, including receptions and webinars, managing invitation lists, materials, tracking, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with Business Development Managers for other practice areas to facilitate cross-selling and cross-practice initiatives.
- Identify and facilitate participation in sponsorships, conferences, memberships, and other profile-building opportunities.
- Become a power user and champion of BD technology, including the firm’s Experience Management System (Foundation).
- Support ad hoc BD and firm initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of professional marketing and business development experience from a law firm environment.
- Excellent project management skills, with keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Well-developed Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Proficiency in contact relationship management databases.
