About the Role
We are hiring a Property Actuary to build, validate, and maintain actuarial and CAT models for property insurance pricing. This role involves hands-on data analysis to refine models, provide insights for brokers, and advise clients on risk and pricing.
Responsibilities
- Build, validate, and maintain actuarial and statistical models for property risk pricing, including CAT and non-CAT models.
- Collaborate with a geographically dispersed team of over 10 actuaries, with a core group in NYC.
- Produce indicated rates, layer pricing, limit adequacy reads, retention analysis, and TCOR views to inform placement decisions.
- Clean and process data including SOVs, loss runs, and policy schedules, and establish efficient workflows for analysis.
- Translate model outputs into client-readable formats such as slides, benchmarks, and concise written narratives.
- Engage with producers, property practice leaders, and clients to present findings, address questions, and shape program structures.
- Contribute to new business efforts, including RFPs, prospect meetings, and presentations where actuarial insights are crucial.
- Utilize AI tools for data cleanup, code generation, narrative drafting, and model stress-testing to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure models are well-documented and auditable for team accessibility.
Requirements
- ACAS is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of dedicated property pricing or modeling work if not credentialed.
- Demonstrated experience in property modeling, including loss development, trend, frequency/severity, CAT load integration, and layer pricing.
- Proficiency in handling large, complex datasets.
- Strong Excel skills are essential.
- Experience with at least one of Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience using AI tools like Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude in daily work.
- Ability to explain complex actuarial work clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of commercial property insurance, including program structures, towers, TIV values, and underlying actuarial logic.
- Familiarity with major CAT models (AIR, RMS) and integrating vendor output into pricing.
- Experience with benchmarking, limit adequacy work, and TCOR modeling in renewal discussions.
- Comfort working with complex programs involving layers, quota shares, deductibles, self-insured retentions, and captives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including brokers, practice leaders, clients, and technical teams.
- Self-starter mindset with a desire to contribute to the growth of the property analytics practice.

Salary/Compensations
- $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 base pay
