About the Role

Tenstorrent is seeking a Component Engineer passionate about selecting the right parts, driving cost optimization, and ensuring critical component availability for scalable AI compute systems. This role is at the intersection of hardware design, supply chain strategy, and vendor management, aiming to deliver cutting-edge AI platforms without delays.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
  • Drive smart multi-sourcing strategies.
  • Work closely with hardware, supply chain, and procurement teams to ensure optimal component selection based on performance, cost efficiency, availability, and scalability.
  • Stay ahead of component lifecycle changes, market shifts, lead times, and supplier health to proactively mitigate risks.
  • Identify cost and supply optimization opportunities.
  • Improve sourcing strategies.
  • Enable smooth transitions through fast-moving product lifecycles.

Requirements

  • Interest in how hardware systems are built end-to-end.
  • Experience working closely with components that enable high-performance computing.
  • 5+ years of experience in component engineering, hardware engineering, or supply chain roles within computing, networking, or complex electronic systems.
  • Strong understanding of key electronic components (semiconductors, memory, power, passives, connectors).
  • Consideration for both technical performance and real-world availability.
  • Comfort working through tradeoffs like cost, performance, and supply risk.
  • Enjoy collaborating with cross-functional engineering and supply chain teams to find practical solutions.
  • Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled technology.
