About the Role

Speech Language Pathologist, SLP will optimize communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of residents by providing, directing, and/or overseeing a strong Speech Language Pathology, SLP therapy program. The role involves building a program to prevent, assess, evaluate, diagnose, and treat disorders affecting speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing in adults. Additionally, the SLP will provide training and education to residents and their loved ones, and deliver quality patient care including screening, evaluation, treatment plan development, discharge planning, and case management.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize communication, cognitive-linguistic abilities, and swallowing skills of residents.
  • Provide, direct, and/or oversee a strong Speech Language Pathology therapy program.
  • Build a program to prevent, assess, evaluate, diagnose, and treat disorders affecting speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing in adults.
  • Provide training and education to the resident and their loved ones on the programs.
  • Provide quality patient care including screening and evaluation of patients.
  • Develop initial and ongoing treatment plans of care.
  • Develop discharge plans.
  • Perform case management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must hold appropriate professional license in NY in good standing.
  • Adhere to all state and federal regulations regarding SLP therapy.
  • Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)/Nursing Home Experience Required.
  • Must possess a spirit of cooperation, caring & enthusiasm to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation & optimal resident health.
  • Genuinely interested in helping ill, injured, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, & sometimes challenging residents.
  • Able to work well under pressure & willing to work harmoniously with all staff.
