About the Role
BGC St. Alban's Club is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our STARS After School program at Regal Road Public School. As a Program Mentor, you will foster a safe and supportive environment for children aged 4-12, engaging them in educational, recreational, social, and artistic activities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead groups of children in a setting.
- Create a safe and enjoyable environment for participants.
- Develop and facilitate fun, creative, and inclusive activities.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are in safe working condition.
- Complete administrative tasks such as attendance and head counts.
- Design and implement programs for children aged 4-12.
- Ensure programs are safe, age-appropriate, non-competitive, inclusive, innovative, and skill-based.
- Maintain the safety and security of members and assist in responding to critical incidents.
- Adhere to Health & Safety standards, including Covid-19 Safety Protocols.
- Participate in staff training and orientation sessions.
- Ensure constant supervision of participants by following guidelines and procedures.
- Manage conflicts and behavior immediately using corrective techniques.
- Report to and take direction from the Program Manager and Supervisors.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
- Maintain professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, and parents.
Requirements
- Educational background applicable to the position.
- Experience working with children aged 4 to 12.
- Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, complex environment.
- Strong supervision and program planning skills.
- Good decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Covid-19 Vaccination Required.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
- Police Reference Check (to be completed upon hiring).
- HIGH FIVE- Principles of Healthy Child Development training.
