About the Role
ECFS is seeking a dynamic, creative, and experienced Physical Education Teacher for a leave replacement position at Fieldston Lower, serving students from PreK-5th grade. This role involves teaching various sports, fitness, and recreational activities while collaborating with colleagues and supporting student growth.
Responsibilities
- Teaching sports skills, team sports, fitness classes, recreational activities, and swimming
- Attending PE team meetings and divisional meetings
- Managing time effectively, prioritizing tasks, and staying organized
- Maintaining a pleasant and positive attitude toward teaching and learning
- Collaborating with colleagues, including sharing resources and communicating about curriculum and students
- Preparing for and communicating details about student performance and growth with parents and/or guardians at scheduled conferences
- Addressing student behavioral issues and other challenges to maintain a safe environment
- Maintaining accurate student record keeping including grades and attendance
- Providing encouragement to students to support their social and emotional growth
- Ensuring confidentiality of student information
- Attending all departmental, divisional, and school-wide meetings
- Maintaining compliance with all school policies, state regulations, and educational standards
- Performing other related projects and duties as needed and assigned
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in physical education or a related field is required
- Prior experience and proven ability in teaching physical education in grades Pre-Kindergarten-5th grade
- Flexibility to teach different methods and strategies to meet students' needs
- Understanding of and desire to work with lower school-aged students
- Ability to exemplify ECFS’s core values in all interactions
- A passion for teaching with a pleasant and positive demeanor
- Ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with faculty, administrators, students, parents, and the community
- Commitment to cultural competency and fostering an inclusive environment
- Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills
- A positive attitude and the ability to listen effectively and be receptive to feedback
- Ability to manage time effectively, stay organized, and prioritize required tasks
- Commitment to engaging in ongoing professional development and proficiency in utilizing and learning new technologies (i.e., Google Workspace tools)
- Reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance
