About the Role

The Market Manager supervises and coordinates Team Members in the Market Department, ensuring inventory accuracy, proper ordering, and exceptional customer service. This role involves managing grocery and perishable items, maintaining department appearance, and creating displays.

Responsibilities

• Properly order and receive shipments according to Lassens Receiving Procedure.
• Ensure inventory accuracy within the department.
• Supervise and coordinate Team Members in the Market Department.
• Stock, face, and maintain inventory.
• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Process special orders.
• Maintain the overall appearance and integrity of the Market Department.
• Create and maintain department displays.
• Ensure accurate pricing with correct shelf tags and sale signs.
• Share knowledge of monthly ads and sales with customers.
• Assign duties to Team Members and schedule breaks.
• Assist in scheduling work hours and approving time off requests.
• Train Team Members on store policies, department procedures, and job duties.
• Place orders with vendors and handle follow-through, including returns and pricing adjustments.
• Contribute to maintaining minimum margin expectations for Grocery (40%) and Perishable (32%) Departments.
• Order merchandise, supplies, and equipment for the Market Department.
• Ensure delivered merchandise and supplies are accurate and saleable.
• Report discrepancies to suppliers to control costs and correct inventory levels.
• Inspect merchandise on the sales floor for correct pricing, display, and expiration dates.
• Follow and enforce "Lassen's Market Stocking & Facing Policy".
• Hang correct shelf labels and sale signs using UPC# and date range.
• Ensure all inventory maintenance tasks are completed within the Market Department.
• Determine inventory additions/deletions based on sales reports and market trends.
• Resolve customer complaints and returned merchandise issues.
• Follow and enforce "Lassen's Special Order Policy & Procedures".
• Maintain a working "Special Order Book".
• Assist in researching and acquiring requested items for customers.
• Sell merchandise and assist Team Members with difficult sales.
• Plan, execute, and maintain department merchandise and promotional displays.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.
• Interview and train Team Members.
• Appraise and document performance and job results.
• Reward and discipline Team Members as needed.
• Address complaints and resolve problems with customers and Team Members.

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of Natural Foods.
• Basic knowledge of Nutritional Supplements including vitamins, herbs, amino acids, sports nutrition, food supplements, and health and beauty aids.
