About the Role
The Senior Manager Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) leads, develops, and implements companywide EH&S programs across all North American facilities. This role ensures regulatory compliance, supports ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, fosters a strong safety culture, and manages operational risks.
Responsibilities
- Develops and executes the company's EH&S strategy, objectives, and performance metrics.
- Leads the company's cross-site EH&S function, managing departmental budgets.
- Establishes and monitors EH&S performance indicators and reports to senior leadership.
- Drives a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement and risk assessments.
- Partners with various departments to identify and mitigate safety, environmental, and operational risks.
- Supports facility expansions and capital projects by ensuring EH&S requirements are incorporated.
- Acts as a strategic advisor for the Business Continuity Program, incorporating EH&S considerations.
- Designs, implements, and maintains hazardous materials programs.
- Leads and/or supports emergency response activities.
- Manages chemical handling programs, including SDS management and new chemical review.
- Provides recommendations for compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory agencies.
- Ensures EH&S programs support compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Ensures fire safety systems are maintained in compliance with regulations.
- Partners with HR and L&D to develop safety training programs.
- Creates and maintains facility-specific emergency response plans and oversees safety committee activities.
- Ensures compliance reports are completed accurately and submitted on time.
- Obtains and maintains environmental, safety, and operational permits.
- Evaluates operations, equipment, and facilities to identify hazards and establish controls.
- Oversees procurement and availability of safety equipment and training resources.
- Completes and maintains applicable certifications, including DOT/IATA Dangerous Goods, HAZWOPER, and Certificates of Fitness.
- Leads incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintains the AED management program.
- Directly manages EH&S personnel activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety or related discipline required.
- 10+ years of progressive EH&S experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Manufacturing environment experience required.
- Experience leading multi-site EH&S programs and teams.
- Experience providing leadership oversight for emergency preparedness and risk management required.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable federal, state, and local EH&S regulations.
- Experience supporting executive-level management.
- Experience coaching leaders and employees at all levels.
- Experience leading projects, process improvements, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive organizational change.
- Ability to manage through ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict and build collaborative relationships.

- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive for extended periods of time.
- Occasional travel, some overnight, as required.
Skills
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Business continuity experience a plus.
