About the Role

As a DevOps Robotics Engineer, you will architect and implement the infrastructure to support hundreds of robots on construction sites throughout the US. You will create a monitoring and data collection system, as well as a way to safely perform over-the-air software and firmware updates. You will also work with the software team to support CI/CD pipelines, machine vision training pipelines, and testing, playing a key role in deploying the first large fleet of autonomous systems to construction sites.

Responsibilities

Build out our fleet management system, architecting and implementing scalable processes for managing hundreds of robots.
Automate the bring-up of machines through scripting, including component configuration and input/output testing.
Architect and implement over-the-air (OTA) updates for software and firmware, including designing automatic recovery for failed updates and ensuring security and encryption.
Create a logging and ticket tracking system to provide necessary information for support teams to restore systems and proactively flag issues.
Establish a RobotVPN for addressing in-field issues and teleoperation.
Create a data management architecture for hardware systems in limited network environments, defining data saving, prioritization, and caching strategies.
Build a CI/CD pipeline for validating and generating release software for robot testing.
Perform lifecycle testing and hardening.
Design test cases and execute testing of the robotic system, including hardware performance and reliability tests.
Test for regressions between software and firmware releases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular attendance.

Requirements

Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.
Previous experience with software development, infrastructure development, or development and operations for Hardware/Physical systems.
Experience with Linux infrastructures, database SQL, CI/CD tools, systemd, and scripting such as JavaScript.
Understanding the challenges of deploying a fleet at scale and designing software to support these challenges.
Understanding robot behavior and supporting the diagnosis and reporting of issues to responsible developers.
