About the Role

As a Senior Accounting Specialist (Accounts Payable), you will oversee the accounts payable process, manage vendor relationships, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role is crucial for maintaining compliance with company policies, supporting audits, and driving continuous process improvements to advance a safer, more reliable, and more resilient electrical grid.

Responsibilities

  • Enter high volume of supplier invoices, ensuring they match purchase orders and receipts.
  • Schedule and process payments via EFT, ACH, wires or checks according to supplier terms.
  • Create payment batches and text files for bank upload.
  • Ensure payments are processed on time to avoid penalties or interest and prioritize discounts.
  • Set-up supplier banking details accurately and verify supporting documents.
  • Review and approve employee T&E reports through Concur, ensuring compliance with policies.
  • Review completeness of credit card receipts and enter spending in the AP system.
  • Record & clear payments in Oracle for payments made on bank site.
  • Clear direct payments, on-line banking, and intercompany transactions from bank statements.
  • Follow-up on invoices on hold and coordinate resolution with cross-functional departments.
  • Support process improvements initiatives (DPO targets, cash flow improvements and AP automation).
  • Establish strong relations with vendors and suppliers, managing inquiries and resolving disputes.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Receiving and cross-functional departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile supplier statements periodically and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities including accrual entries.
  • Generate AP reports (trial balance, AP aging).
  • Reconcile AP accounts and accruals.
  • Support Internal Control process implementation.
  • Support external audit requirements.
  • Support AR functions (Billings & Cash Application).
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for management.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • 3-5 years AP experience with high-volume transactions.
  • Experience in a medium to large manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Oracle ERP and SAP Concur)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and accounts payable best practices.

Salary/Compensations

  • $60100 - $79627.2
  • Target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.
