About the Role
This role plans, develops, and administers security and loss prevention programs, focusing on asset protection, resident and employee safety, access control, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance within the community.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and train security personnel and contractors to ensure they meet community standards for a safe environment.
- Schedule security department shifts and reception desk breaks to maintain adequate coverage within budget.
- Develop and administer a comprehensive security system, investigating rule and policy infractions.
- Conduct daily inspections of the community's interior and exterior to identify security needs and report irregularities.
- Update security measures and procedures based on new policies and regulations, assessing weaknesses and recommending improvements.
- Document and interview residents and employees regarding criminal acts and security issues.
- Assist in preparing reports and insurance claims for property damage.
- Support the community's fire and safety program, ensuring compliance with codes and titles.
- Inspect alarm systems and act as a liaison with San Francisco Fire and Police Departments.
- Coordinate service elevator schedules for resident moves with management.
- Solicit, evaluate, and select bids for contracted security personnel, directing and inspecting their work.
- Supervise personnel, service contracts, and security projects, performing security tasks as needed.
- Review routine security activities through logbooks.
- Evaluate and maintain equipment and materials for safe and efficient operation.
- Assist in developing, costing, and adhering to the security operating budget.
- Administer the community's key, fob, and employee locker systems.
- Manage the parking program, assigning spaces and coordinating guest parking.
- Hire, supervise, train, motivate, and manage the performance of security personnel and contractors.
- Recognize and report concerns regarding residents' physical, mental, and emotional status.
- Carry a cell phone, participate in Manager on Duty rotation, and be on-call as necessary.
- Perform related work as required.
Requirements
- Enjoy working with people and possess exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate tact, courtesy, patience, and understanding when dealing with residents.
- Enjoy variety and a fast-paced environment.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or business management (preferred).
- Have four years of experience in a law enforcement/security setting within a healthcare, residential building, or similar community (preferred).
- Demonstrate managerial skills.
- Possess a minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
- Have thorough working knowledge of security and investigation procedures and protocol.
- Possess knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulatory compliance.
- Possess knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Ability to understand and read technical manuals and schematics.
- Ability to manage anger, fear, and hostility calmly.
- Ability to act with patience, tact, and courtesy under demanding conditions.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and understanding of issues related to aging.

- $96,600 - $113,500
