About the Role
The HSSE Director will implement and manage Health and Safety operations across a portfolio, leading a compliance and training program that meets JLL, client, and statutory requirements. Periodic travel to operations sites and meetings may be required.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HSSE requirements and activities for the account.
- Communicate HSSE needs and results to the Account Leadership Team.
- Lead the development and refinement of JLL’s HSSE culture and training programs on the account.
- Lead a team of HSSE professionals, providing technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support on HSSE regulatory compliance issues.
- Ensure development and maintenance of the account training matrix.
- Collaborate with the JLL HSSE Life Sciences team to share best practices.
- Manage trend analysis to adjust management systems.
- Provide key performance and risk indicators to JLL and Client Teams.
- Ensure HSSE accidents, injuries, and near misses are properly managed and reviewed for trends.
- Participate in investigations of serious safety events, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Prepare communications to share lessons-learned from safety events.
- Support environmental compliance efforts as specified in the JLL/client Master Service Agreement (MSA)/Statement of Work (SOW).
- Maintain account HSSE procedures, documentation, and records.
- Support ISO 45001 & 14001 management system certification activities.
- Act as the key contact for client support related to HSSE communications and activities.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental science, or relevant field.
- 8+ years of HSSE experience.
- Practical working knowledge of Health and Safety tools and techniques, ideally within a Facilities Management environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant standards, legislation, codes of practice, guidance, and operating procedures.
- Good presentation and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, information management proficiency, and collaborative management style.
- Evidence of strong interpersonal skills to establish credibility with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to work through and identify the root cause of any problem.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
