About the Role
This advanced-level DIY sales position requires expert knowledge of DIY business, store operations, automotive systems, and parts. The role is responsible for providing advanced automotive problem resolution, including identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers. The ability to source parts from various channels and in-depth knowledge of store inventory and maintenance processes are essential. Fleet safety knowledge is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class customer service and DIY issue resolution.
- Deliver a GAS3 selling experience for all DIY customers, including walk-in, online orders, and phone inquiries.
- Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage DIY services such as testing, battery installation, and wiper installs.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance.
- Perform key holder responsibilities, including task assignment and completion, safety, and open/close duties.
Requirements
- Possess advanced selling skills (GAS3) for DIY customers.
- Demonstrate friendly communication skills.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Possess safety knowledge and skills.
- Proficiency in operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Skills in parts and automotive systems knowledge.
- Proficiency in operating POS and Parts lookup systems.
- Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
- ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent.
- Advanced ability in recommending solutions, projects, and product quality.
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing ability.
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic ability, including internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, and exhaust.
- Ability to speak and write English (Spanish is a plus) and communicate effectively to build strong relationships.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to understand and execute instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Successfully complete the Parts Knowledge Assessment.
- Accurate use of basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measure.
- Effective use of Microsoft software (Word, Excel required).
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work varied schedules, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- 3-5 years of prior automotive parts experience.
- Proven sales ability with past experience in fulfilling customer transactions.
