About the Role
Flow is Ebury's internal AI agent platform, providing core agentic infrastructure that integrates with data warehouses, services, and central systems to execute complex business tasks. This role involves transitioning Flow from an internal product to a productionized platform, owning features like agent workflows, reasoning UIs, and integrations, while improving engineering standards and guiding a technical team. The position is at the intersection of AI and operational workflows in a regulated fintech setting, with a broad impact across the company.
Responsibilities
- Design and build multi-step orchestration, tool use, and retrieval for agent workflows using the Strands Agents SDK.
- Own end-to-end feature development across React/TypeScript frontend and Python/FastAPI backend.
- Extend the Chain-of-Thought UI to ensure explainability of agent decisions.
- Build and extend the evaluation harness (Ragas) and observability platform (Langfuse) for reliable agent performance.
- Define and implement evaluation strategies, including custom evaluators, datasets, benchmarks, and automated regression suites.
- Integrate internal APIs, data warehouses, email, and cross-cloud GCP/AWS services with robust error handling and distributed tracing.
- Drive the lifecycle of turning AI prototypes into hardened, daily-deployed services.
- Mentor mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and establishing scalable engineering patterns.
- Collaborate with Product, Ops, Trading, and Treasury to identify and prioritize automation opportunities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong Python backend expertise with FastAPI (or Django/Flask), asynchronous programming, clean architecture, and production-grade code.
- Strong React & TypeScript skills with experience in state management, performance optimization, and testing.
- Proven track record of designing scalable, maintainable systems and articulating architectural trade-offs.
- Proficiency with REST, streaming (SSE/WebSockets), and integrating disparate systems.
- Strong SQL/NoSQL skills, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Commitment to testing as a core development activity and driving features from concept to production.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical decisions and writing documentation.
- Experience with micro-frontend architecture.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CDK).
