About the Role
The Director of New Business Intake will have primary responsibility for Conflicts and AML within the U.K., Ireland and Dubai, and will liaise with the U.S. business regarding the resolution of Conflicts involving these jurisdictions. This role involves managing a team of approximately 25 analysts across AML and Conflicts.
Responsibilities
- Overall day-to-day responsibility for Business Acceptance, acting as an escalation point for Business Acceptance and Senior Analysts.
- Serve as deputy MLRO, supporting the MLRO with suspicious activity reports and external SARs.
- Act as a liaison for the U.S. Conflicts team and supervise London-based analysts handling U.S. Conflicts issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Serve as the firm's Anti-Bribery & Corruption Officer, monitoring the Gifts and Hospitality register and advising on related matters.
- Act as the firm's Sanctions Officer, advising on potential sanctions issues.
- Support the MLRO and Director of Risk during regulatory audits and visits, ensuring findings are actioned.
- Supervise the Business Acceptance Manager in preparing documentation for the annual AML Risk Assessment and Independent AML audit.
- Develop relationships with other business services functions to facilitate co-operation and knowledge sharing.
- Organize and present training on risk topics as necessary.
Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding of the risks faced by an international commercial law firm.
- Ability to manage the resolution of legal and commercial conflicts of interest, considering applicable regulatory requirements and the needs of partners and offices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels across the firm's U.K. and international practices.
- Understanding of fee earner demands and ability to provide commercial solutions under pressure.
- Ability to manage a range of projects effectively to completion.
