About the Role

The Manager, Operations plans, directs, and oversees operations within an assigned category, focusing on meeting Quality, Delivery, and Cost (QDC) goals. This role involves personnel coaching and development, fostering empowered work teams, and driving continuous improvement. The Manager also collaborates with Sales Teams and Customers, providing product and process expertise, resolving issues, and ensuring effective product delivery. They supervise Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Control to support issue resolution and product delivery. Direct customer involvement is expected for issue resolution, and the role includes building a lean environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the production unit and logistical operations.
  • Monitor and control capital equipment usage against performance and efficiency measures.
  • Assume site responsibility for Health and Safety Policy, ensuring compliance and appropriate staff training.
  • Act as site Fire Controller.
  • Proactively lead staff, suggesting and implementing continuous improvements and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and ensure all product despatched conforms to Company Quality guidelines and procedures.
  • Effectively control and manage the planned maintenance of the premises and resolve faults.
  • Plan and schedule all production to meet customer requirements.
  • Approve test reports on process equipment as User per NHS guidance.
  • Monitor absence levels, maintain and analyze data, and communicate with staff.
  • Coach, support, and guide all staff in accordance with Performance Management policies.
  • Act as an induction mentor.
  • Agree and monitor financial parameters and budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Participate in the on-call management service.
  • Lead and promote participation in Company communications initiatives.
  • Undertake any reasonable management request.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience with the ability to encourage contributions, address issues, and act as a catalyst for change.
  • Experience fostering teamwork to solve problems, make decisions, and achieve department success.
  • Experience coaching and developing others by establishing an environment conducive to feedback and grooming employees for advancement.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Business Acumen: experience with and ability to understand company financials, department cost structures, budgets, and operating costs.
