About the Role
Spearhead the end-to-end lifecycle of next-generation products, owning the development journey from market insights to product launches. This role operates at the intersection of design, engineering, sourcing, sales, marketing, and business strategy, requiring a high-energy professional adept at maintaining quality standards under aggressive timelines.
Responsibilities
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer collaboration to understand industry trends, market structures, and market gaps.
- Identify market white space and present compelling new product ideas to leadership.
- Model refined product concepts using 3D CAD and rendering tools.
- Lead product design and development from concept through production, owning every milestone.
- Facilitate new product development meetings and cross-functional team sessions.
- Collaborate with Regulatory and Testing Team to develop test plans and product certifications.
- Work closely with Design Engineers for detailed design and development of product specifications and documentation for manufacturing.
- Partner with Sourcing Team to identify and qualify new manufacturers.
- Lead NPD initiatives with factory partners, setting clear direction and holding timelines.
- Coordinate sample production and manage iterative development cycles with suppliers.
- Collaborate with packaging engineers to optimize packaging performance and reduce cost.
- Partner with technical illustrators to develop product packaging and installation manuals.
- Equip the Sales team with product knowledge, tools, and collateral for new product launches.
- Develop and own project timelines; keep cross-functional stakeholders aligned and accountable.
- Manage product-level profitability, with cost targets as a key responsibility.
- Leverage AI tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate market research, competitive analysis, and documentation.
- Use AI-assisted rendering and ideation tools to speed up concept development and design iteration.
- Contribute to building AI-integrated workflows across the product development team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 7+ years of product development experience in consumer goods or related industry.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Onshape) and rendering tools.
- Demonstrated track record of launching successful products from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, factory relationships, and cost modeling.
- Experience collaborating with overseas manufacturers.
- Comfortable with regulatory and testing standards for consumer products.
- Exceptional project management skills.
- Clear communicator: able to brief factories, present to executives, and write tight specs.
- Familiarity with AI tools for research, ideation, and documentation — and an appetite to push how they’re used in product development.
