About the Role

The Division of Natural Sciences at Mount Saint Mary College seeks qualified individuals to teach Nursing Chemistry Fundamentals, a course introducing nursing students to basic concepts of general, organic, and biochemistry as they apply to the life sciences. The course includes a 3-hour laboratory with recitation and hands-on work, utilizing previously developed materials. The position is for the traditional 15-week semester schedule.

Responsibilities

Provide support and guidance to students
Instruct an assigned course, providing syllabi and other instructional materials
Use of College learning management systems to deliver instruction
Prepare and deliver course materials (lectures, labs, assignments, assessments) in alignment with departmental learning goals
Maintain course records, grade assignments, and submit final grades in a timely manner
Provide students with regular feedback on performance and be available during office hours or by appointment
Adhere to departmental and college policies and deadlines
Coordinate with course coordinators and laboratory staff as needed

Requirements

A graduate degree in Chemistry or a related field
Demonstrated experience within the field of Chemistry
May require standing for long periods of time
May require talking for long periods of time
May require carrying course materials

Skills

Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Proficiency in oral and written communications
Ability to generate high-quality classroom materials
Ability to clearly and engagingly present information, lead class activities, and facilitate student learning
Leadership abilities to guide students in hands-on, design, or technology management in the laboratory setting
Commitment to student success and academic excellence
