About the Role
Ultimate responsibility for consumer programming and care, assisting individuals with intellectual disabilities with personal care, daily living skills, and programming as written by the Habilitation Coordinator. Ensuring safety and reinforcing positive behavior are key aspects of this role.
Responsibilities
- Assist people with intellectual disabilities with all aspects of personal care using appropriate level of privacy.
- Provide first aid and nursing assistance as necessary or as requested by nurse or supervisor.
- Assist people with intellectual disabilities with daily living skills.
- Assist with lifting, transferring and positioning as prescribed.
- Dispense medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Provide programming as written by Habilitation Coordinator.
- Communicate programming information to Habilitation Coordinator and Program Manager as needed.
- Ensure safety of people with intellectual disabilities by providing the prescribed level of supervision all times.
- Reinforce positive behavior of people supported at all times.
- Utilize the least restrictive prompting at all times.
- Follow behaviors plans as written.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation as required.
- Contemporaneously and accurately document programming as per policy and procedure manual.
- Accurately document personal care and medical information as prescribed.
- Assist with cleanliness and upkeep as instructed.
- Follow universal precautions protocols.
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling.
- Protect confidentiality.
- Participate in required trainings.
- Professionally represent Citizen Advocates, Inc. with families, other organizations and the community as a whole.
- Follow program policy and procedure manual as written.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with one year experience working with people with developmental disabilities.
- Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling.
- Protect confidentiality.
- Participate in required trainings.
- Professionally represent Citizen Advocates, Inc. with families, other organizations and the community as a whole.
- Follow program policy and procedure manual as written.
