About the Role
Leads and oversees Counterparty Credit Risk in London, ensuring business strategies and plans are executed safely, soundly, and in compliance with regulations and internal policies.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring a robust framework for monitoring and measuring counterparty credit risk in London portfolios, meeting bank standards and UK regulatory requirements.
- Oversight of the counterparty credit risk policy, processes, and controls.
- Ensuring appropriate and adequate margin frameworks, limits, and stress testing.
- Monitoring risk profile, trends, limits, margins, and stress testing results, partnering with the 1st Line to identify potential portfolio risks.
- Liaising with trading desks and front office risk personnel on counterparty credit risk oversight, including limit breaches, risk appetite, margin calls, and risk escalation.
- Overseeing the relationship with counterparties from a second line perspective to assess their impact on Scotiabank.
- Engaging with Trade Floor Risk Management and Trading teams to ensure appropriate counterparty credit risk monitoring for current market conditions.
- Collaborating with credit teams on counterparty credit assessments and setting effective risk appetite for clients.
- Working with teams in London and Toronto to ensure the adequacy of closeout playbooks.
- Presenting the counterparty credit risk profile of London portfolios at governance/oversight committees.
- Leading and driving a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage Bank resources.
Requirements
- Requires at least a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
- Experience in market or counterparty credit risk oversight (or related function).
- Solid market risk understanding of traded markets and products.
- Knowledge in the latest regulatory developments in market risk and counterparty credit risk.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for senior management and external regulators.
