About the Role

The Alternative Asset Analyst manages the full investment lifecycle of alternative assets, including private equity, hedge funds, and direct investment deals. This role ensures the accuracy and timeliness of reporting, transactions, and valuations while supporting operational efficiency and collaborating with investment teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently review, research, assess, and update valuations for alternative assets
• Produce custom business-segment and firm analytics for managerial reporting
• Partner with investment teams to create new alternative assets and ensure accurate reporting
• Validate alternative asset statements from fund companies
• Engage custodians, funds, and internal teams to resolve valuation issues, breaks, and delays
• Escalate fair value pricing matters and determine resolutions based on policies
• Present documentation to resolve pricing discrepancies with stakeholders
• Manage internal ticket queues and resolve requests
• Evaluate pricing data points to determine actions and update systems
• Partner with client teams on-boarding complex alternative asset holdings
• Manage internal and external investment transfers and subscription/redemption activities
• Identify control gaps and propose best practices for efficiency
• Lead and contribute to firm-wide and departmental projects

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (finance, accounting, or economics preferred)
• 1-3 years of experience
• Proficiency in private equity, hedge fund securities, and real assets
• General knowledge of market mechanics
• Ability to work in the Baltimore office five days a week
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
