About the Role
ispace is seeking a Senior Flight Software Systems Engineer to design and develop lunar landers and other space platforms. This role involves working on a project focused on lunar resource prospecting, contributing to the detailed design and qualification of missions within a small, international team.
Responsibilities
- Support the definition of a product baseline, creating standard requirements, system architecture, ICDs, design and analysis goals, test plans, and operations concepts.
- Lead and perform safety analyses including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), and related methods.
- Perform system level trade-offs, coordinating inputs from various disciplines to evaluate proposed design baseline changes.
- Ensure internal interfaces between various spacecraft subsystems are maintained.
- Contribute to requirements management, ensuring all requirements are closed-out at planned project landmarks.
- Support AIT/Flight&Test Operations Groups and subsystem leads in defining test plans and specifications.
- Coordinate efforts between relevant subsystems and the Operations Team in defining a spacecraft operational concept.
- Contribute to the maintenance and integration of Model-Based Systems Engineering tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in design, implementation, integration, and V&V of embedded flight software subsystems.
- Operational experience, including preparation of operations, participation in rehearsals, and on-console activities.
- Experience performing FMECA, reliability analysis, and/or hazard analysis.
- Experience with programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or equivalent.
- Self-motivated and comfortable making key decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- High sense of accountability and ownership.
- Excellent presentation skills, both verbally and written.
- Enthusiastic attitude and team player.
- Working level in English.
- Experience with design, analysis or testing of at least one other subsystem: Structure, Thermal, Avionics, Propulsion, Communications, GNC.
- Experience with requirement decomposition (mission all the way to unit level).
- Experience with system level testing such as hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Candidates currently in Japan with valid working visa are prioritized.
- Relocation to Japan is required for overseas candidates.
