About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Educational Consultant to manage sales and identify new opportunities within assigned territories in Japan. This role involves providing consultation services to customers to drive sales growth and enhance the OUP brand presence in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct institutional visits, contacting customers via direct visits, virtual meetings, phone, and email to assess needs, present materials, and close sales.
  • Maintain existing institutional adoptions and prospect for new sales through visits and events like presentations, teacher training, and book fairs within budget.
  • Plan and report on yearly activities monthly, discussing progress and performance with management.
  • Identify new prospects and develop existing accounts to foster long-term partnerships and increase market share.
  • Present integrated offers of materials and services to deliver leading educational solutions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry and updates in the CRM database for institutions, contacts, and adoptions.
  • Extract and manipulate data for sales activity planning and reporting.
  • Attend major promotional events such as the JALT national conference and Oxford Teachers Workshops.
  • Organize and attend smaller promotional events within assigned territories.
  • Support marketing-organized events as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge of OUP ELT materials through training and self-study.
  • Develop knowledge of competitor ELT materials through training and self-study.
  • Stay updated on current ELT pedagogy through training and self-study.
  • Research territories to identify existing and potential adoptions and new business opportunities.
  • Stay informed about general market trends, conditions, activities, and opportunities.
  • Maintain professional customer relationships, projecting a positive image of OUP and representing the company effectively.
  • Adhere to business attire standards when meeting customers and business casual when not.
  • Visit university bookshops to gather adoption data and maintain customer relationships.
  • Contact booksellers to confirm adoptions and provide post-adoption support.
  • Conduct occasional visits to bookshops and distributors in local territories.

Requirements

  • Experience in and interest in English language education.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, work independently, and challenge oneself.
  • Holder of a valid driving license.

Skills

  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Japanese.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
