About the Role
The Financial Health team's primary goal is supporting those tackling tough financial situations. This role is crucial in guiding customers through financial hardship, helping them find a fresh start and a clearer financial outlook. It requires indirect leadership to drive Financial Health strategy improvements within a squad structure.
Responsibilities
- Helping to deliver strategic changes that lead to good customer outcomes while protecting Monzo's interests.
- Collaborating with analysts, product managers, engineers, and operations staff to implement proposed changes.
- Analyzing the impact of recent changes and monitoring overall portfolio performance using qualitative and quantitative data.
- Supporting the growth and development of more junior team members.
- Working with external partners to ensure adherence to Monzo's standards and good customer outcomes.
- Documenting and using data to ensure strategy execution aligns with expectations, including governance, control, and monitoring.
Requirements
- Experience working with external partners, including relationship management and auditing.
- Experience in Collections and Recoveries strategies.
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape, including CONC, SYSC, Consumer Duty, and the CCA (knowledge of equivalent EU regulatory frameworks is a plus).
- Leadership experience (direct or indirect) and ability to drive strategic projects.
- Ability to identify, articulate, and mitigate risks associated with strategic changes.
- Strong judgment and ability to make trade-offs between desired and feasible outcomes.
- Proven ability to gain approval for proposed business changes.
- Highly resourceful and a self-starter, skilled in researching and mapping unfamiliar regulatory frameworks or operational domains.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, ambiguous, and changing company environment.
- Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, risk, operations, and finance teams.
- Collaborative, strategic problem-solver who thrives under deadlines.
- Commitment to achieving the best outcomes for customers in financial difficulty.
